Is it possible to make a single object read only? I have a script that copies objects from one module to another. After they are copied over, I don't want them to be modified. Is there a way to make them read only? randragon42 - Thu Sep 18 09:51:26 EDT 2014 |
Re: How to make certain objects read only. You can manage that by the user priviledges. For yourself keep the permission to change the data and for the others deny it. If the other users dont kill you, everything is well. |

I know that you can set the user privileges for modules and projects, but what would the dxl look like for setting the privileges for individual objects? I can't find it in the manual or online. |

Re: How to make certain objects read only. kourosh - Thu Sep 18 17:57:34 EDT 2014 set(current Object, read, "username") Thank you! I was able to get this to work in my script. The Issue I was running into was that the script needs to be run by an administrator. My script is called by a trigger so it would need to be done by an admin... |
Re: How to make certain objects read only. Hi Josh, Can you please share the script for copying objects from one module to another.

Re: How to make certain objects read only. I have found trying to manage object access rights an insurmountable problem. I much prefer some project-wide pre-attribute-save trigger that dynamically decides if the current attribute update is allowed and rejecting those that are not. If the "spec" is in RCRB control and the attribute is a controlled attribute and the user is not in some RCRB group, then reject the change. This is a WHOLE lot easier than trying to provide objects with specific access and trying to keep some attributes locked down with specific access while others are not. -Louie |
